Little Ships are invited to join the festivities planned for the Thames Festival over the weekend on 14/15 September, 2013. Further details will be posted as they become available.

A Southampton Heritage Federation event to welcome the Dunkirk Little Ship Steam Tug ”Challenge” to the Port of Southampton

The Hampshire and Wight Trust for Maritime Archaeology on behalf of the Southampton Heritage Federation is delighted to announce the Southampton Maritime Festival, taking place on Sunday 5th and Monday 6th May 2013 at the Ocean Cruise Terminal, Southampton to celebrate the arrival of the Steam Tug “Challenge” following her major restoration, partly funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. The lead organisation will be the Dunkirk Little Ships Restoration trust.

15th Annual General Meeting of the Dunkirk Little Ships Restoration Trust - Oct 3rd

The 15th AGM of the Dunkirk Little Ships Restoration Trust (DLSRT) will be held aboard the Steam Tug Challenge at Shoreham at 1130. All members are welcome. Further information form the Hon Secretary Mrs Diana Cox.

Challenge was the last steam tug to serve on the Thames and spent her whole working life based on the river. One of the memorable events of her career was taking part in the evacuation of the Allied Army from Dunkirk in May/June 1940, when as a part of the armada of Little Ships, she helped to save some of the 338,000 servicemen from the advancing German Armies.
