Veterans Weekend

With the support once again of Thames Motor Yacht Club, the Royal Navy and Weybridge Mariners Club a weekend of events on the lower Thames will be held to honour the Veterans of past conflicts.
Saturday will see Veterans from the South Atlantic conflicts joining the Little Ships. Whilst on Sunday we will pay tribute to the Veterans from the Second World War.

We are now expecting 22 Little Ships to take part in the Veterans Cruise. This is the most vessels that the Association has assembled on the non-tidal Thames for many years. Little Ships such as New Britannic may never have ventured beyond Teddington before.

On Saturday 7th September Little Ships will depart Thames Motor Yacht Club (TMYC) close to Hampton Court around 1400. The fleet will head downstream through Kingston on Thames arriving at Teddington around 1500. Veterans from the Falklands, Korea, Normandy and Bomber Command along with war widows will be aboard the Little Ships. Come along to Teddington Lock and see the biggest gathering of Little Ships on the non-tidal Thames for many years.

On Sunday 8th September some of the last remaining Dunkirk Veterans will join Normandy and convoy Veterans for a trip up river to Weybridge Mariners Club (WMC). The Veterans will be joined by HRH Prince Michael of Kent, Honorary Admiral ADLS. After lunch at WMC Veterans will be returned to their transport at TMYC in a convoy of classic vehicles.
Little Ships will depart TMYC at 1000 and after passing around Ravens Ait will return up-river to Molesey Lock around 1045. Little Ships will continue up-river to Sunbury Lock (1130 approx) arriving at Weybridge Mariners Club at 1230 approx. The Veterans will depart in the classic vehicles around 1500. Little Ships will moor on the Surrey bank opposite Weybridge Mariners Club. The classic cars will assemble in the public car park close to Weybridge Ladies Rowing Club.
