Commemorative Return 2013 - Ipswich

2013 will see the Little Ships return to Ipswich for their Annual Commemorative Cruise. A service will be held dockside at Ipswich Haven Marina on Sunday 26th May commencing at 1100. All are welcome.

Dunkirk Little Ships Assembling For Queen's Jubilee
1 March 2012 - The Association of Dunkirk Little Ships (ADLS) is pleased to announce details of
its participation in the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant.
In the week leading up to the Pageant, 40 Dunkirk Little Ships will make their way to Barn Elms
Reach on the Thames near Putney. From there they will assemble into the largest single class of
powered boats taking part in the Pageant before heading downstream immediately behind the
Royal Section. A further 5 Little Ships will be taking part in the Avenue of Sail.

Charles Herbert Lightoller, born in March 1874, started as an apprentice on a sailing barque in Liverpool at fourteen, was ship-wrecked in the Indian Ocean in 1889 and was Second Officer on the Titanic when she sank in 1912. After diving from the stricken vessel, he reached a raft and was eventually saved by the Carpathia. In World War I, he earned the DSC hunting German U-boats, one of which he rammed and sank.
