Annual General Meeting of the Association of Dunkirk Little Ships

Members, Associates and Honorary Members are invited to attend the AGM of the Association of Dunkirk Little Ships to be held at the Naval Club, 38 Hill Street, London, W1J 5NS. The meeting formalities will commence at 2000 and attendees are welcome to take refreshments within the Club prior to the meeting. As with all London Clubs, required dress is jacket and tie for men and the equivalent for ladies.

Fitting Out Supper 24th April 2010

Members are asked to note the date and location of the 2010 Fitting Out Supper. Once again we will be returning to an old favourite venue - the RAF Club on Piccadilly.

Teddington Lock Memorial Dedication

A memorial dedicated to the Little Ships will be unveiled on Sunday 9th May on Teddington Lock. The memorial will commemorate the work carried out by Douglas Tough - who assembled 100 of the Little Ships from his boatyard opposite the lock - and the 338,000 men who were rescued from Dunkirk during the evacuation. It is hoped several Little Ships will attend.

Dunkirk Veterans Day at the Imperial War Museum, London

The Imperial War Museum is proposing to hold a small celebration to mark the 70th anniversary of Operation Dynamo. Veterans of Operation Dynamo and any individual associated with the BEF in 1940 are invited to contact web-admin for further details. www.webadmin@adls.org.uk.

70th Anniversary Commemorative Return to Dunkirk

Every 5 years the Association organises a cross-channel return to Dunkirk. 2010 is the 70th anniversary of Operation Dynamo and it is anticipated that up to 50 Little Ships will make the crossing from Ramsgate to Dunkirk. Subject to other operational commitments, the Royal Navy is planning to provide a Type 23 Duke Class Frigate to act as escort ship for this anniversary crossing and ceremonies in Dunkirk. As in previous years the RNLI will provide a lifeboat escort.

Armed Forces' Day Event, Cardiff

The Armed Forces’ Day national event (AFDNE) takes place on Saturday, 26th June in Cardiff, jointly organised by Cardiff Council and the Ministry of Defence. Little Ships are invited to participate in this, the second Armed Forces’ Day national event. Free moorings will be available within the Marina in Cardiff Bay. 33rd The Thames Traditional Boat Rally

SAIL Amsterdam 2010

It is hoped that a strong contingent from the ADLS will attend SAIL Amsterdam. What better way to visit the famously hospitable City of Amsterdam than as a part of the ADLS flotilla. Thames Festival Classic Rally 2010

Based in the historic St Katherine Docks adjacent to Tower Bridge in the heart of London, the 2010 Thames Festival Classic Rally promises to be even more spectacular than the inaugural 2009 event. The Rally brings together a collection of yachts and boats of all sizes and types which have a connection to the River and its Estuaries and it is hoped that a diverse contingent from the Association of Dunkirk Little Ships will attend.

Weybridge Mariners Festival

Weybridge Mariners Festival at Shepperton Lock on the River Thames will be attended by a number of Dunkirk Little Ships. Fermain V will be giving trips around Desborough Island and the Dunkirk Restoration Trust will be represented with their stall at the lock side. Do come along for a grand afternoon out.
